MCP access¶
MCP access lets the AI tools you already use, such as Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code or the Claude desktop app, read and update your Questo workspace as you. A coding session can file a task, draft a changelog output or record an insight without you switching windows.
Connect a tool¶
In Settings > MCP access, under Connect a tool:
- Pick the Tool: Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, Claude desktop or Other.
- Choose Access: Read only lets the tool look things up but change nothing; Read and write lets it make changes too.
- Choose when it Expires: after 30 days, after 90 days, or never.
- Give it a Name that tells your tokens apart, such as the machine it lives on.
- Generate token. Questo shows the setup for your tool with the token filled in. Copy it into the tool now: the token is shown only once.
Your tokens lists every token you made. Revoke cuts a tool off immediately; to reconnect it, generate a new token. Tokens also stop working when they expire or when you leave the workspace.
What a connected tool can do¶
With read access, a tool can look up your tasks, missions, outputs, insights, inbox cards, files, connected integrations and knowledge base, including competitors and personas.
With read and write access, it can also:
- create tasks and update them, including marking them done or failed;
- create outputs and edit them;
- add insights;
- write to your tenets, skills, rules and records, and link insights to records as evidence;
- write a mission update.
It cannot publish or send anything, resolve inbox cards, or delete anything.
Changes are yours, and undoable¶
A tool works as you. Its changes are recorded under your name as agent edits, and History shows which tool made each one. Every change can be undone from History, like any other agent edit. See what the agent does without asking.
