Instagram and Facebook¶
Connect Meta publishing and the agent can draft posts for your Instagram account and your Facebook Page. You publish or schedule them from the Outbox, and Questo then tracks how each post performs so the agent can learn from it.
What you need¶
- An Instagram professional account (Business or Creator), linked to a Facebook Page. A personal Instagram account cannot be published to.
- A Facebook Page that you manage. You need permission to create content on it.
To link an Instagram account to a Page, open the Page's settings on Facebook and add the Instagram account under linked accounts.
Connect¶
- Open Settings > Integrations and press Connect on Meta publishing.
- Sign in to Facebook and choose the Pages and Instagram accounts Questo may use. Questo only reaches what you pick here.
- Back in Questo, each Page and each linked Instagram account appears as a place a post can go.
If Questo says no Instagram account found, the Page you picked has no Instagram professional account linked. Link it to the Page on Facebook, then reconnect.
One connection covers the whole workspace, so a teammate does not need to connect it again.
What Questo can post¶
| Where | What the agent drafts |
|---|---|
| Instagram post | One image, or a carousel of 2 to 10 images, with a caption of up to 2,200 characters |
| Instagram Story | One image sized 9:16, with no caption |
| Facebook Page | Text, images, or both |
Instagram only accepts JPEG images, so Questo refuses to publish a post whose images are in another format, and says so on the card. A Story cannot carry a link, a poll or a caption.
The agent picks the account while drafting. When you have more than one Page or Instagram account and it has no pick, the card asks you to choose.
Publish and schedule¶
Posts are published from the Outbox in the Questo web app. They cannot be sent from Slack: a Slack card for an Instagram or Facebook post points you to the web app.
- Post publishes now. The card then shows View post.
- Schedule... picks a later time, and Reschedule... moves it. Questo checks the post when you schedule it, so a problem such as a PNG image is reported then rather than at the scheduled time.
Instagram limits how many posts an account can publish in a day. If you reach it, the card says so and waits for you.
Post performance¶
After a post goes out, Questo reads how it did: views, reach, likes, comments, shares, saves, follows and profile visits. It checks again at 1 hour, 24 hours, 3 days, 7 days and 30 days, so a post's numbers fill in over its first month. Instagram can lag by up to two days, so the first reading may be low.
Stories are different, because Instagram keeps a Story's numbers for only 24 hours. Questo reads each Story twice, at about 6 hours and 22 hours. Instagram shows no numbers at all for a Story with fewer than 5 viewers.
The agent reads these numbers when you ask how your posts are doing, and when it plans a mission. Questo only measures posts it published.
Troubleshooting¶
- No Instagram account found. The Page has no linked Instagram professional account. Link it on Facebook and reconnect.
- Access expired. Facebook logins eventually lapse, and they stop working if you change your Facebook password or lose your role on the Page. A red dot appears on Integrations and the card offers Reconnect. See When a connection breaks.
- A Page or account is missing. It was not selected when you connected. Press Reconnect and tick it.
- A post was refused. The card says why: a non-JPEG image, too many images, or a caption that is too long.
Disconnect¶
Disconnect in Settings > Integrations. Posts already published stay on Instagram and Facebook, and Questo stops reading their performance.
You can also remove Questo in Facebook, under Settings > Business Integrations. Questo notices and disconnects itself. To have your Facebook data erased, use the delete option on the same screen.
